Summer Corn Chowder

FullSizeRender

A few weeks ago we had a family reunion and I figured Summer Corn Chowder would be perfect! I could put in on the stove when we left for church and it would be ready by the time I got home! I’ve shared my love for Mrs Terri’s Corn Chowder, but to me it’s a heavy soup. PERFECT for winter, but I wanted something on the lighter side.

I found this recipe on Pinterest and quickly went to work on how I could adapt it!

What you will need:
* 4 cans of whole kernel corn
* 3 can of diced potatoes (or a bag of Golden Round potatoes cut into quarters)
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 1 clove garlic
* 3 Tbsp Earth Balance Vegan & Soy Free Buttery Spread
* 1/4 cup gluten free flour (I used almond flour, but once I’m off the elimination diet I’ll use gluten free all purpose flower)
* 2 drops of Thyme Essential Oil
* 1 Cup of Dairy Free Half and Half ( you can make your own by adding one part Almond Milk Creamer or Coconut Cream to one part Diary free milk)
* 5 cups of water
* 1Tbsp Honey
* 5 slices of gluten free/nitrate free bacon, cut into pieces
* 2-3 Tbsp chopped chives

What do to:
* Add Earth Balance Buttery Spread to pot and cook onions and bacon until they turn brown.
* Next add the garlic and let it brown.
* Add gluten free flour a little at a time. ( If the flour starts to clump you can start switching back and forth- adding a little water and adding a little flour)
* Add the 5 cups of water and bring to a boil.
* Add in all the other ingredients expect for the chopped chives
* Turn down and let simmer. ( The directions say simmer for 20 minutes. I put this on the stove on a Sunday Morning and let it simmer while we were at church. It was probably 2 hours and it turned out fine)
* Once it is done cooking, transfer 2 1/2 cups of chowder to a blender and blend until smooth
* Pour back into pot and stir together
* Serve with diary free cheese, chives, diary free sour cream or more bacon! Enjoy!

And of course, I can’t forget the Lavender Field. This field is one they have set up for guest to see and take pictures in. There is a field across the road where they actually do the planting and going on the Lavender we use.

The Business Side of Young Living!

GDSBB
Ask me about oils and I can on and on.

Ask me about the Golden Drop Society- and be prepared to sit there for a few hours while I tell you why its amazing! The Golden Drop Society is wonderful, The Golden Drop Business Builders….Oh gracious, I love that group! It may sound a little weird to you, and I get it! You’re probably asking, “You love a group where 90% of the people you have never met outside of facebook?” Yeap!

If I write too much, I’m going to cry- so here is why I love my Golden Drop builders group so much
* We have leaders who pray for us, our goals and our families
* What you do matters and is seen by other women who acknowledge, encourage and praise you publicly and privately for it
* Your leaders want you to grow, and will do whatever it takes to help you reach your goals
* There is NEVER any pressure, but only love, support and encouragement
* That one person who seems to be right where you want to be, is just a facebook chat away and is always willing to give you tips
* We have an end of the month facebook party where we congratulate everyone on an awesome month
* There is no competition! We share ideas, have parties together, help each other out! There is enough success to go around and we all want each other to experience it!

The list could go on and on.

The more I talk to women, the more I find out that many of them want to be at home with their children. Or they want to get out of their 9-5 job, or they want to have the freedom to travel. They may just want a little extra income for gifts, kids parties, or to renovate the house (that one is me!!).

I have seen it happen with some of the ladies in our group! It’s not easy by any means! You will grow, you will be stretched, you will feel like giving up! But when you do- that is when all these wonderful ladies will be there to pick you up, dust you off and get you going again!

If any of this has peeked your interested, I would love to give you some more information on Young Living and the business side! Our team offers a Business Class once a month. Once completed you will have access to our private business builders facebook page, a special section on our blog dedicated to building a business, and access to our Drop Box with tons of information!

DIY Refresh Wipes

IMG_7167For the past couple of weeks, mine and Scott’s evenings have been packed. So we decided we would go to the noon class at crossfit. This way we would be able to get our workout in and do what we needed after work. Here is my only problem with that… I sweat! And I didn’t really want to spend the rest of my day stinky!

Essential Oils to the rescue!

I knew I had a bottle of Cottonelle cleaning cloths around that were no telling how old! So I dumped them out and decided to make my own! This is such an quick and easy DIY version using essential oils. The result is a clean smelling cleaning cloth that leaves you refreshed.

What you will need
* Paper Towels
* Bowl
* Essential Oils of your choice { I used Purification to help eliminate odors and because it helps to moisturize the skin and Lavender because it is a great compliment to beauty products}
* A left over Contonelle carrying case {A ziplock bag may work as well if you don’t have a left over Contonelle case, but I haven’t tried that}

Directions:
Take 20 paper towels and cut then in half making 40
Place in bowl and fill with water just enough to cover paper towels
Add Essential oils and stir water around { I used 10 drops Purification and 10 drops Lavender
Let sit for 30 minutes
Take paper towels out of the bowl and ring out enough water so they are dripping but not enough to dry them out
Store in your left over Contonelle carrying case.

{ Save any remaining water to use for another batch, to put in a spray bottle or use in the diffuser}

– I made these a week and a half a ago and they are still moist and smell of essential oils!

Cottonele Wipes $2.28
DIY Wipes: $1.42 {I have enough water left over for about 2 more batches, So I could really divide that by 3 and it would come out to about $.50 per batch}
Cost breakdown
* Bounty Papertowels: $16 for 12 rolls, $1.33 per roll, $.0075 per sheet
* Purification: $18.75 for 15 ml bottle containing 300 drops, $.06 per drop, $.63 for 10 drops
* Lavender: $23.50 for 15 ml bottle containing 300 drops, $.08 per drop, $.78 for 10 drops
